A woman employee at a district hospital in Raebareli, UP, was suspended after a disturbing viral video showed her assaulting a patient. The footage triggered widespread outrage on social media, showing her kicking the patient multiple times and verbally abusing him inside the hospital premises. The incident was described by officials as inhumane and unacceptable, leading to immediate administrative action.

Viral Video Sparks Outrage in UP Raebareli Hospital
According to reports cited by PTI, the video showed the employee kicking the patient around 10 times within 35 seconds. The shocking nature of the clip led authorities to take swift cognizance of the matter. Senior officials said the behavior violated basic standards of patient care and dignity expected in government health facilities.
Following instructions from Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, the hospital administration began disciplinary proceedings against the staff member. The district hospital’s Chief Medical Superintendent, Dr Pushpendra Kumar, identified the employee as Pinky, who worked as a sweeper at the facility. Authorities emphasized that strict action was necessary to maintain public trust in healthcare services.
Probe Ordered, Strict Action Under Service Rules
Officials stated that the conduct violated the Employee Conduct Rules, 1956, and also came under the Uttar Pradesh Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1999. During her suspension period, Pinky was attached to the AYUSH outpatient department of the same hospital. The administration said such behavior would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
A three-member inquiry committee was formed to carry out a time-bound investigation into the incident. The panel includes orthopaedic consultant Dr Dinesh Pratap Saroj, microbiologist Dr Richa, and sister-matron Sushma Yadav. Meanwhile, Additional Chief Secretary (Medical and Health) Amit Kumar Ghosh directed all chief medical officers across Uttar Pradesh to ensure strict adherence to conduct rules and prevent any form of mistreatment of patients in government hospitals.
