A woman died and four others suffered injuries after a Toyota Hilux crashed into their Swift near Bellur. The accident happened in Karnataka’s Mandya district on Sunday afternoon, according to police officials.
The Swift travelled from Shravanabelagola towards Bengaluru when the driver attempted a left turn. The driver planned to enter a petrol pump located beside the main road. As the Swift approached the entrance, the driver moved towards the left side. The driver apparently failed to notice the approaching Toyota Hilux behind the car. The speeding Hilux then crashed into the Swift with considerable force from behind. The powerful impact severely damaged the Swift and left several occupants seriously injured.

Video Captures Crash; Police Begin Investigation
A video circulating widely on social media captured the moments before the collision. The footage showed the Swift slowing down before moving left towards the petrol pump. The Hilux then suddenly struck the car, causing a severe collision near the roadside. According to Mandya police, four people travelled inside the Swift when the accident occurred. The occupants included Sudha Jain, her husband, their son and their daughter-in-law. Emergency personnel rushed all four occupants to a nearby hospital following the collision. Sudha Jain, originally from Gujarat, later succumbed to her injuries during medical treatment.
Doctors treated her husband, son and daughter-in-law for injuries following the crash. Police said the three injured family members remained out of danger after receiving treatment. The Toyota Hilux driver, identified as Vikas, also suffered minor injuries during the accident. Police officers quickly reached the location and began investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision. Authorities registered a case and started examining both vehicles involved in the crash. Investigators are checking vehicle movements and other circumstances that may have contributed to accident. The police investigation will determine the exact sequence of events leading to the collision. The crash temporarily disrupted traffic as emergency teams worked around the damaged vehicles. Police and emergency personnel later cleared the roadway and restored normal traffic movement.
