West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee may visit the Supreme Court today. She may also argue her case herself. Banerjee is a trained lawyer. She has strongly opposed the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists in the state. She says the West Bengal Assembly elections should take place using the 2025 voter list.

In her petition, Banerjee has challenged the SIR process. She has questioned whether it is legal. She has asked the court to cancel SIR-related orders issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI).

These orders were issued on June 24, 2025, and October 27, 2025. She has also asked the court to cancel all related instructions. Banerjee says the court must review the process closely. She believes voters should not face trouble. She also wants to prevent unfair removal of names from the voter list.

A Supreme Court bench will hear the matter today. Chief Justice Surya Kant will lead the bench. Justices Joymalya Bagchi and Vipul M Pancholi will also be part of it. The court will hear other petitions as well. These include petitions filed by Mostari Banu. Petitions by TMC MPs Derek O’Brien and Dola Sen will also be heard.
