Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that previous governments in Assam, led by 14 Chief Ministers, failed to provide more than 20,000-25,000 appointments, and many faced corruption, court cases, and administrative issues. He highlighted that securing a government job in Assam had been difficult due to political favoritism and irregularities since the 1980s. Sarma recalled that when he promised one lakh jobs, critics called it unrealistic. However, he formed a cabinet committee to address this, identifying a need for teachers, doctors, nurses, and police personnel. So far, his government has appointed 1,21,243 candidates.
