    Demography

The Demography Panel has started preparations to study population changes across India since the 2011 Census. The high-level committee will send detailed questionnaires to all State governments to collect updated demographic information.

The Demography Panel will ask Chief Secretaries to provide details about population growth, new settlements, migration patterns, and other demographic developments. The committee aims to understand how India’s population has changed over the past decade.

The Demography Panel will collect data from States to examine population growth, new settlements, and demographic changes after the 2011 Census

Officials said the Demography Panel will also seek information from the Election Commission of India regarding Special Intensive Revision (SIR) deletions. The data will help the committee assess changes in voter records alongside population trends.

Experts believe the study will provide valuable insights for future planning and policy decisions. Accurate demographic data can support better infrastructure, public services, urban planning, and resource allocation across the country.

The Demography Panel is expected to play an important role in preparing a comprehensive assessment of India’s changing population. The findings may also help governments improve development strategies and administrative planning.
