The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance secured a strong victory in Maharashtra’s local body elections, winning a majority of seats in both Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti polls across 12 districts. The alliance captured over 550 Zilla Parishad seats and more than 1,000 Panchayat Samiti seats, significantly outperforming the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), which struggled to make a notable impact. The BJP emerged as the leading force within the alliance, followed by the NCP and Shiv Sena, while Congress and other opposition parties secured comparatively fewer seats.
Across several regions including western Maharashtra, Konkan, and Marathwada, the Mahayuti demonstrated strong electoral performance. The BJP showed consistent growth and improved its seat tally compared to previous elections. Meanwhile, the alliance partners also delivered solid results, strengthening their collective hold over local governance bodies. In contrast, the MVA alliance faced widespread setbacks and failed to mount a strong challenge in most districts.
The NCP particularly stood out in Pune district, where it retained its long-standing dominance in the Zilla Parishad for nearly two decades. The party secured a significant number of seats in Panchayat Samitis as well, benefiting from strategic alliances and unified voter support. Party leaders credited the victory to the planning and leadership legacy of the late Ajit Pawar, whose strategies played a crucial role in the party’s performance.

In Kolhapur and Sangli, the NCP also delivered strong performances. It emerged as the single-largest party in Kolhapur, while in Sangli, both NCP factions showed notable strength, raising the possibility of forming power with support from other parties. Meanwhile, the BJP achieved major successes in districts like Satara, Solapur, and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, expanding its influence and improving its position compared to previous election results.
State leadership of the BJP described the results as a clear mandate from voters, highlighting record-breaking performance and increased public trust. The Congress, while acknowledging its limited success, maintained that it contested elections independently to strengthen its grassroots presence and ideological outreach. Overall, the election results highlighted the growing dominance of the Mahayuti alliance while showcasing regional strongholds maintained by the NCP and select gains by opposition parties.
