Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will table the Economic Survey on Thursday, January 29, 2026, and present the Union Budget on Sunday, February 1, 2026.ollowing an all-party meeting on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to outline the Budget Session agenda, leaders from various political parties shared the issues they plan to raise in Parliament and assured the government of their full cooperation. Congress MP Manickam Tagore said the party will focus on people-centric issues, including alleged vote theft, SIR, paddy procurement, and the restoration of MGNREGA. Meanwhile, several political leaders and Union ministers arrived in the national capital ahead of the Budget Session.
President Murmu Says India Now Runs 150 Vande Bharat Trains
President Droupadi Murmu said that 150 Vande Bharat trains are currently running across India, highlighting the government’s achievements during her address to both Houses of Parliament. She described 2026 as a “major base” for India’s journey toward a “Viksit Bharat.”
“For India, the first 25 years of this century have been marked by numerous successes, proud achievements, and remarkable experiences. Over the past 10–11 years, the country has strengthened its foundation across all sectors,” the President added.
President Murmu Commends India’s Tribute to Its Forebears
President Droupadi Murmu praised India’s celebrations of the 350th Martyr’s Day of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur and the 150th birth anniversary of Birsa Munda, saying that remembering the contributions of ancestors inspires the new generation and accelerates the country’s journey toward a “Viksit Bharat.”
She added that the nation also honoured events marking Sardar Patel’s 150th birth anniversary, which reinforced the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat. Murmu highlighted that the celebrations of Bharat Ratna Bhupen Hazarika’s birth anniversary filled the country with music and a sense of unity
