Amid a noticeable uptick in Covid-19 cases, the Maharashtra Public Health Department has issued a fresh advisory to hospitals across the state following the detection of 84 new Covid-19 cases on Friday. The advisory stresses the need for hospitals to remain vigilant and adequately prepared by ensuring the availability of ICU beds, oxygen supplies, and other essential medical infrastructure.
With these new cases, the total number of Covid-19 infections reported in the state in 2025 has reached 681. Of these, 207 patients have recovered as of May 30, while the number of active cases stands at 467. Health officials clarified that the majority of patients are currently exhibiting only mild symptoms, and urged the public not to panic but to stay cautious.
In addition to preparedness measures for hospitals, the advisory also includes preventive guidelines for citizens. People have been advised to wear face masks, especially in crowded and enclosed spaces, maintain social distancing, and wash their hands frequently to minimize the risk of transmission.
Experts Urge Booster Vaccination Amid Rising Cases
Medical experts have also emphasized the importance of booster vaccination, particularly for individuals who have not received a dose in a long time. “People who haven’t taken a booster dose recently should consider getting vaccinated to enhance their immunity against new variants,” a senior health expert noted.
The health department also acknowledged the emergence of four new variants of the Coronavirus in the state. All of them are reported to be sub-types of the Omicron variant, which is known for its high transmissibility but typically milder symptoms compared to previous strains.
Health officials are closely monitoring the situation and have assured that all necessary steps are being taken to contain the spread. The advisory is part of a proactive approach to ensure the healthcare system remains prepared to manage any potential rise in serious cases.
The department continues to appeal to the public to stay informed through official sources and to cooperate fully with health protocols and vaccination drives.
