Delhi-NCR continues to face alarming air pollution, forcing authorities to reimpose the strictest GRAP-4 measures. The hazardous environment has disrupted daily life across the national capital and its adjoining areas once again.

Delhi-NCR: Worsening smog reduces visibility and heightens respiratory risks

Amid the worsening pollution crisis, government officials are actively considering temporary school closures or shifting to online and hybrid education. Education departments are closely monitoring AQI trends before deciding, as children remain among the most vulnerable to toxic air. Parents and students express anxiety because prolonged exposure to polluted air, combined with extreme winter conditions, increases health risks. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a cold wave alert for several parts of Delhi-NCR, worsening the situation. The agency warned that harsh winter conditions will persist in the coming days, intensifying residents’ discomfort.

Freezing temperatures and severe smog have created challenging conditions, especially during early mornings and late evenings. Authorities have enforced GRAP-4 restrictions, banning non-essential construction, limiting diesel vehicle use, and advising people to reduce outdoor exposure. Schools have suspended outdoor activities while officials assess shifting academic activities to virtual platforms if pollution levels remain high. As the region grapples with extreme air pollution and biting cold, authorities urge residents to follow safety guidelines and monitor official advisories.
