Amazon has advised its H-1B and H-4 visa holders to stay in the US for now. The company urged employees to return to the US before the September 21 deadline. This advisory follows similar warnings from Microsoft and JPMorgan amid new visa rules. President Trump introduced a \$100,000 annual fee for each H-1B visa starting September 21. The new fee aims to reduce foreign workers in the US tech sector significantly.

Microsoft also strongly recommended H-1B and H-4 visa holders return to the US immediately. JPMorgan’s legal team advised visa holders to avoid international travel for now. The Trump administration plans to overhaul the H-1B visa program to prioritize Americans. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick emphasized training American graduates instead of hiring foreigners. India received 71% of H-1B visas last year, followed by China with 11.7%.
The visa fee hike will challenge tech companies relying on skilled foreign professionals. Applicants previously paid only a few thousand dollars over the visa duration. The new fee will last for 12 months, but extensions are possible. This policy may force companies to rethink hiring foreign workers. The rule marks a major shift in US immigration and workforce strategy.
