The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) strengthened its position, particularly in Bihar and Odisha. Opposition parties faced setbacks as cross-voting and the absence of some legislators influenced the results. NDA-backed candidates took advantage of these factors and secured key victories. Political analysts observed that internal divisions within opposition ranks contributed to these losses. The results highlighted shifting political dynamics in these states.

In Bihar, several prominent leaders emerged victorious in the Rajya Sabha elections. Nitish Kumar, the state’s longest-serving chief minister, won a seat along with other NDA-supported candidates. Leaders such as Nitin Nabin, Ram Nath Thakur, Shivesh Kumar, and Upendra Kushwaha also secured wins. The NDA successfully captured all five contested seats in the state. This outcome reinforced the alliance’s strong political hold in Bihar.

NDA strengthens hold as opposition faces setbacks

Odisha witnessed a mixed outcome, but NDA-backed candidates made significant gains. Leaders including Manmohan Samal and Sujeet Kumar won seats, while Santrupt Misra and independent candidate Dilip Ray also secured victories. In Haryana, Sanjay Bhatia from the BJP and Karamvir Singh Boudh from the Congress emerged as winners. These results reflected both competition and cooperation among different political parties across states.

Meanwhile, several candidates won unopposed in different regions, reducing the need for voting. Prominent figures such as M Thambidurai and Abhishek Singhvi secured seats without contest. In West Bengal, multiple Trinamool Congress nominees also entered the Rajya Sabha unopposed. In Maharashtra, all seven candidates, including members of the ruling alliance and Sharad Pawar, won without facing opposition. These uncontested victories highlighted strategic candidate selection by political parties.

Overall, the Rajya Sabha elections showcased evolving political alignments across India. The NDA gained momentum in key states, while the opposition struggled to maintain unity in certain regions. The combination of contested and uncontested seats demonstrated varied electoral strategies. The results will influence legislative proceedings and policymaking in the Upper House. Political parties are now expected to reassess their strategies ahead of upcoming elections.
