Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a five-nation tour from July 2 to 9, aiming to boost security cooperation, counter-terrorism efforts, and deepen engagement with the Global South. His itinerary includes Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia. The visit will conclude with the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro on July 6 and 7.

India is expected to push for a strong condemnation of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 civilians, during the BRICS Summit. In response to the attack, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan. At a media briefing, Dammu Ravi, Secretary (Economic Relations) in the Ministry of External Affairs, confirmed that all BRICS nations expressed “understanding, sympathy, and solidarity” with India.

Despite the absence of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin, Modi’s participation will reinforce India’s commitment to BRICS. Officials expect the leaders’ joint declaration to reflect India’s call for united global action against terrorism.
