Virat Kohli led the scoring for Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Wednesday, helping the defending champions comfortably chase down Lucknow Super Giants’ modest target of 147 in Bengaluru. His performance once again highlighted his consistency and importance to the side.
Former Indian cricketer Munaf Patel has lauded both Kohli and Rohit Sharma for always putting the nation ahead of everything else. Amid ongoing discussions about their future, he emphasized that even after stepping away from Tests and T20Is, both players remain fully dedicated to representing India in One-Day Internationals.
To stay match-fit for the upcoming ODI World Cup scheduled in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia, Kohli and Rohit even participated in the Vijay Hazare Trophy last year. Munaf noted that their commitment to the national team is so strong that they could consider leaving the IPL if it ever conflicted with international duties.

Currently, Kohli is playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, while Rohit Sharma represents Mumbai Indians in IPL 2026. Kohli recently scored a fluent 49 off 34 balls despite dealing with an ankle issue, playing a key role in RCB securing their third consecutive home victory.
On the other hand, Rohit is struggling with a hamstring injury, which forced him to retire hurt during a match against RCB. His condition appears more serious and may sideline him for upcoming games against Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans, dealing a significant blow to Mumbai Indians, who are already facing a tough run this season.
