Balochistan Army Captures 7 Soldiers, Sets 7-Day Deadline

The separatist militant group Baloch Liberation Army claims it holds seven Pakistani security personnel in custody. It issued a seven day deadline to Islamabad for a prisoner exchange. Furthermore, the group warned authorities that the captives could face execution. It stated officials must begin negotiations before the deadline expires. Otherwise, it said, it will carry out the announced punishment.

Meanwhile, Hakkal, the organisation’s media wing, released an official statement. It also shared a video message reinforcing the ultimatum publicly. According to the group, only six days now remain. Consequently, it urged Islamabad to respond without further delay. The announcement intensified tensions surrounding the standoff.

Army Awaits Response Amid Rising Tensions

However, NDTV could not independently verify these claims. Additionally, Pakistani military authorities have not issued any immediate response. Government officials also remained publicly silent on the matter. As a result, uncertainty continues to surround the group’s assertions. Observers await formal clarification from Islamabad. Meanwhile, analysts urge caution until independent evidence emerges publicly. Therefore, the situation remains fluid and closely monitored.

According to the group, fighters captured the detainees during Operation Herof. It described the action as the second phase of operations. Initially, militants detained seventeen Pakistani security personnel across multiple fronts. Later, however, they released ten of those captives. They said those freed were ethnic Baloch linked to local police. Subsequently, the group framed the releases as a calculated decision.
Thus, it attempted to justify its actions politically.

The organisation stated it freed those individuals after considering ground realities. It claimed local identity and community interests influenced that decision. Meanwhile, it continues holding the remaining seven army personnel. It said a self styled Baloch National Court conducted proceedings. Ultimately, it offered Pakistan seven days to arrange a formal exchange. Furthermore, it warned that failure to respond could trigger consequences. Consequently, tensions may escalate if negotiations do not begin.
