Pakistan’s Defence Minister Targets India Amid Border Tensions

Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Asif sparked controversy by linking India to Islamabad’s rising tensions with Kabul. Speaking to Samaa TV, Asif warned that India could play dirty at the border. He claimed that Pakistan is prepared for a two-front war amid escalating clashes with Afghanistan.

Asif was replying to a question about possible Indian provocations along the border. He said that such incidents cannot be ruled out and that there are “strong possibilities.” When asked about meetings with the Prime Minister regarding the issue, Asif said strategies are ready, though he declined to share details publicly.

Asif’s Provocative Comments Deepen Pakistan-Afghanistan Rift

In an earlier statement, Asif accused Afghanistan’s Taliban government of fighting a proxy war for India. Speaking to Geo News, he alleged that Delhi sponsors the Taliban’s decisions and expressed doubts that the recent ceasefire would hold. He further claimed that Kabul is currently fighting India’s war through the Taliban’s actions.

Despite Pakistan’s own history of supporting terrorism, Asif shifted blame toward both India and Afghanistan. His remarks have drawn sharp criticism, with observers calling them an attempt to divert attention from Pakistan’s internal security failures.

Rising Border Tensions Between Pakistan and Afghanistan

Asif’s latest comments followed a 48-hour ceasefire between Islamabad and Kabul after deadly border clashes. The violence had killed dozens of troops and civilians, intensifying the standoff along their shared border. The Taliban had launched an offensive in southern Afghanistan, prompting Pakistan to threaten a strong military response.

Islamabad accused Kabul of sheltering Pakistani Taliban (TTP) militants within Afghan territory, a charge the Taliban denied. The temporary truce came after a week of cross-border attacks, highlighting the fragile and volatile situation between the two nations.
