Indian golfer Pranavi Urs created history at the Asian Games 2026 by winning the women’s individual golf gold medal. The 23-year-old from Mysuru finished the tournament at 15-under 265. She held her nerve during a tense final round to secure the top spot. Her victory marks India’s first women’s individual golf gold at the Asian Games. She also became the first Indian woman to achieve the feat.

Pranavi Urs Wins Historic Individual Golf Gold
Pranavi began the final round with a three-shot lead but faced an early setback on the third hole. A triple bogey briefly put pressure on her title hopes. However, she quickly bounced back with three birdies. She maintained her focus as the competition became tighter. Her steady play helped her stay ahead of her closest rivals.
Pranavi finished one stroke ahead of China’s Yin Ruoning and Singapore’s Shannon Tan. Both competitors ended the tournament at 14-under. Pranavi delivered crucial par putts on the final two holes. She then completed the 18th hole with another par to finish at 15-under. Her gold also ended India’s long wait for a golf gold since Shiv Kapur’s men’s individual victory in 2002.

Indian Golfer Adds Team Silver to Medal Haul
The Indian golfer also helped the country win a silver medal in the women’s team event. She teamed up with Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar in the competition. India finished with a combined score of 14-under 546. Aditi carded a 67 in the final round, while Diksha finished with 77. China claimed the team gold after recording 22-under 538.
Pranavi’s two-medal performance added to India’s strong showing at the Asian Games. Earlier, 17-year-old Kumkum Mohod won gold in the women’s individual recurve archery event. India’s medal tally reached 79 at the time of the report, including 18 gold, 26 silver and 35 bronze medals. Meanwhile, India’s men’s golf team also remained in contention in the individual and team stroke-play events. The results further highlighted India’s strong performance in golf and archery.
