    ChatGPT is currently facing a widespread global outage, leaving many users unable to log in or use the AI chatbot’s features. The disruption, which began in the early hours of July 16, has also affected other OpenAI services like Sora, Codex, and the GPT API. According to Downdetector, the issue started around 6 AM IST and reached its peak by 7:10 AM.

    Open AI Probes Elevated Error Rates, Service Issues

    OpenAI has confirmed the issue on its official status page, stating: “We have identified elevated error rates and are working on a mitigation. The update highlights performance degradation across multiple services and mentions an unexpected change that led to ChatGPT’s connectors being automatically enabled. The company also noted that it is actively investigating the problem affecting the impacted services.

    Second Major Outage in a Month Raises Global Concerns Among Users and Developers

    This is the second significant outage OpenAI has faced within a month, sparking concern among frequent users and developers who depend on its tools for work and content creation. The disruption appears to be global, with a high number of reports coming from India, various parts of Asia, as well as the US and Europe.
