N. Chandrababu Naidu laid the foundation stone for a major AI data centre project by Google in Visakhapatnam on April 28, 2026. This project marks one of the largest foreign direct investments in India and highlights the country’s growing focus on advanced digital infrastructure.
The company will build the data centre at Tarluvada, on the outskirts of the city. The project will cover around 601.4 acres of land. It will involve an investment of ₹1.35 lakh crore, making it one of the biggest single investments in the region. The facility will operate as a 1-gigawatt hyperscale AI data centre. It will support cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and other digital services.
The event saw the presence of key leaders and officials. Ashwini Vaishnaw attended the ceremony along with senior executives from Google Cloud. They joined Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu at the groundbreaking event. The leaders highlighted the importance of the project for India’s technology growth.
