IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal stated that the board and the State Government had no prior knowledge of any victory parade or celebrations planned in Bengaluru. He emphasized that they were unaware of who organized the event and how such a large number of fans gathered there. Dhumal’s comments come amid questions about the uncoordinated celebrations following the IPL victory, with the board asserting it has ‘No Role’ and urging the State Government to ‘Take Note’ of the situation.

Right after the stampede on Wednesday, the BCCI quickly stepped back from the Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s IPL victory celebrations. Officials made it clear that the state government and local authorities need to “take note” of what happened, stressing that the BCCI’s responsibility ended once the tournament wrapped up.

Indian Cricket Board Says ‘No Role’ in Bengaluru Stampede, Tells State Govt to ‘Take Note’

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia told The Indian Express, “Once the IPL final is over and after the presentation, BCCI has no role to play on what the franchise and the team go and do on their home ground.” He added that Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) didn’t need to inform or get permission from the BCCI for their celebrations, and that the board isn’t responsible for monitoring such events either.

With questions swirling over the unplanned celebrations and the tragic stampede, authorities now face pressure to tighten event management and crowd control measures during such high-energy moments, ensuring fan safety remains a top priority moving forward.

The Bengaluru stampede has sparked a serious conversation about accountability and preparedness, highlighting the urgent need for better coordination between sports bodies, local authorities, and event organizers to prevent such tragedies in the future. Fans’ enthusiasm is undeniable, but ensuring their safety must always come first.
