Two Portland police officers were hospitalized Monday night after a suspect shot them while they responded to a reported armed threat in Northeast Portland, authorities said. The suspect escaped the scene and remains at large as police continue an intensive search.
According to the Portland Police Bureau, the shooting occurred in the Sullivan’s Gulch neighborhood near the Lloyd Center area. Both injured officers were transported to the hospital by ambulance, police confirmed to KGW.
The incident triggered a large-scale law enforcement response, with more than 60 police units deployed. Dispatch records show officers received a call about a person making threats with a weapon around 8:22 pm local time near Northeast 17th Avenue and Northeast Clackamas Street. During the response, the suspect opened fire and fled.

Police have not released details about the suspect or the weapon used. The Portland Police Bureau activated its Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) and Crisis Negotiation Team, describing the situation as an active tactical operation.
Authorities sealed off a wide area, closing roads between Northeast Broadway and Northeast Multnomah Street and from Northeast 15th Avenue to Northeast 21st Avenue. Police urged residents within the perimeter to stay indoors with doors and windows locked, while officers searched for the suspect.
Officials said the investigation remains ongoing and promised further updates as more information becomes available.
