US President Donald Trump has signalled that the United States may end its military operations in Iran within weeks. His comments suggest that United States is preparing to wrap up its campaign even without a formal deal with Iran.
Speaking at the White House, Trump said US forces would be “leaving very soon.” He suggested a possible timeline of two to three weeks. He also said the military was “finishing the job” before withdrawing.
Trump made the remarks ahead of a scheduled address on the conflict. The White House said he would share a “significant update” on the Iran war.
His latest comments mark a shift in tone. While the war continues to fuel instability across the Middle East, Trump now appears to be steering the US toward an exit strategy instead of further escalation.

Donald Trump also made it clear that the United States will not wait for a diplomatic deal with Iran before ending its military operations. He said Tehran “doesn’t have to make a deal” with Washington. Trump stressed that the US would decide to withdraw based on Iran’s weakened nuclear capabilities.
He added that American forces would leave only when the US believes Iran can no longer develop a nuclear weapon. The remark underlined his administration’s military-first approach over a negotiated settlement.
The latest statement marks a clear shift in tone. The conflict, which began on February 28, continues to fuel instability across the Middle East. Although Trump had earlier warned of possible escalation, he now appears to be signalling an exit strategy.

Donald Trump Sends Mixed Signals as Iran War Continues
Trump’s comments came even as military activity continued across the Middle East. Explosions were reported in Tehran on Wednesday, while Iran-linked attacks targeted key infrastructure in Gulf countries. A drone strike also triggered a fire at Kuwait’s main airport.
At the same time, tensions remained high between the United States and its allies. Trump urged countries that rely on oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz to “get your own oil,” signalling a reduced US role in protecting global energy routes.
US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth also backed the president’s position. He described the coming days as “decisive” and did not rule out further military action before any withdrawal.
