Microsoft has increased the prices of its Surface lineup and removed all models below $1,000. The company recently applied these changes across its devices. Customers now have to spend more for the same hardware. This shift affects budget buyers and changes the market dynamics.
The Surface Pro and Surface Laptop have become more expensive. The 12-inch Surface Pro now costs $1,049 instead of $799. The 13-inch Surface Laptop has increased from $899 to $1,149. These price jumps clearly show a strong upward trend in Surface pricing.

Microsoft raises Surface device prices by up to $300 while removing budget models from its lineup.
Microsoft has also raised prices for premium models. Devices launched in 2024 started at $999 but now begin at $1,499. The company removed entry-level storage variants, which pushed the base price higher. This change resulted in a $300 increase for higher-end Surface devices.
The company says rising memory and component costs caused these price hikes. Shortages of RAM and storage chips continue to affect the tech industry. Many companies are increasing prices to manage production costs. Microsoft follows the same trend with its Surface lineup.
Microsoft continues to focus on Arm-based processors for Surface devices. However, higher prices make them less competitive against Apple MacBooks. Until new updates arrive, Surface devices may struggle to justify their increased cost in the market.
