    Ashok mittal

Ashok Kumar Mittal faces ED raids at Lovely Professional University and other Lovely Group-linked locations in a FEMA probe.

Meanwhile, teams of the Enforcement Directorate from Jalandhar and Chandigarh carried out searches early on Wednesday. They targeted businesses linked to the Lovely Group. Notably, Mittal owns the group with his brothers, Ramesh Mittal and Naresh Mittal.

Furthermore, the agency is probing alleged violations of the Foreign Exchange Management Act. It has also expanded the raids beyond the campus. In addition, searches covered sweets shops, Lovely Autos, a distance education centre, and residences of the owners.

However, officials said the ED did not seek help from local police. At the same time, teams searched 8–9 locations in Punjab and Gurugram. These included Mittal’s home, his son’s properties, and a farmhouse.

Moreover, officials reached the university amid suspected financial irregularities. Finally, investigators are examining documents and financial records, and the searches are still ongoing.

Ashok Mittal secures key position in AAP

Ashok Kumar Mittal comes under ED scrutiny days after the Aam Aadmi Party elevated him to Rajya Sabha deputy leader, replacing Raghav Chadha.

A law graduate from Guru Nanak Dev University and a chartered accountant, Mittal is one of AAP’s seven members in the Rajya Sabha.

His appointment followed Chadha’s removal from the post, a move that sparked speculation about internal differences within the party. However, Mittal described the change as routine, stating that Chadha remains a senior leader and that AAP follows a democratic approach by rotating responsibilities among leaders.
