Model and actor Twisha Sharma’s death has sparked controversy after her family questioned the police investigation and demanded a second postmortem. Bhopal Police Commissioner Sanjay Kumar said the investigation currently points to suicide and not murder. He also defended the police handling of the case.

Kumar confirmed that Twisha’s family submitted an application for another autopsy. He said the police have no objection to a second postmortem. The court will now decide whether doctors should conduct another examination.

The controversy increased after reports claimed the investigating officer did not present the nylon belt recovered from the scene during the AIIMS Bhopal autopsy. Because of this, doctors could not compare the ligature marks on Twisha’s neck with the alleged material.

The postmortem report mentioned two parallel ligature marks on her neck. Doctors concluded that antemortem hanging caused the death. The report also noted multiple simple injuries on other parts of her body, possibly caused by blunt force. These findings raised further doubts for Twisha’s family.

The family also questioned the delay in arresting Twisha’s husband, Samarth Singh. Kumar said investigations sometimes take time and assured that police would take action soon. The case has gained major public attention because Twisha died less than six months after her marriage. Police are investigating the matter under dowry death and cruelty laws.
