Gurgaon heavy rain brought the city to a standstill on Tuesday. Roads flooded after intense rainfall. A school bus carrying children got trapped when a road caved in near Sector 53. Rescue teams safely evacuated the bus. Officials reported up to 82 mm of rain between 2 pm and 5 pm. The incident highlighted the city’s ongoing monsoon challenges.
Heavy rain also caused serious traffic congestion across Gurgaon. Waterlogging affected Medanta Hospital, Hero Honda Chowk, Baani Square, Sheetla Mata Road, and Sector 102. A section of NH-48 near Narsinghpur also collapsed during pipe culvert work. Authorities diverted traffic through the Dwarka Expressway and Southern Peripheral Road. As a result, commuters faced long delays.
Heavy rain caused severe waterlogging, a road cave-in, traffic jams, and major disruptions across Gurgaon as civic agencies rushed to restore normal movement.
Residents expressed frustration over poor drainage and repeated flooding. Many said Gurgaon generates huge revenue but lacks reliable infrastructure. They demanded safer roads and better stormwater management. Several residential areas, including Mayfield Gardens and Ardee City, remained waterlogged for hours after the rain stopped.
Meanwhile, the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) said its teams worked throughout the rainfall. Officials used pumps, suction tankers, and other equipment to remove water. The National Highways Authority of India confirmed that two lanes of NH-48 were closed for public safety. GMDA also deployed engineering teams to inspect flooded locations and restore normal traffic.
Gurgaon heavy rain once again exposed the city’s drainage and infrastructure problems. Although authorities responded quickly, residents continued to face flooded roads and traffic jams. Officials have promised inspections and corrective measures. Better drainage systems and long-term planning will remain essential before the next spell of monsoon rain.
