India’s batting stars Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli continue to feature in the ongoing three-match ODI series against the West Indies. Rohit recently spoke about his long-standing friendship and cricketing bond with Kohli. He said their relationship developed during India’s tour of Australia. Since then, both batters have shared several memorable moments on and off the field. Their similar journeys have also helped them understand each other’s challenges better.

Rohit Sharma Recalls His Bond With Virat Kohli
Rohit said he and Kohli began building their friendship during the early stages of their international careers. The two often laugh when television discussions highlight their close relationship. Rohit also explained that both players understand what it takes to perform consistently at the highest level. He credited their long association for creating strong camaraderie between them. Both players made their international debuts within a year of each other, with Rohit debuting in 2007 and Kohli in 2008.
Rohit revealed that he and Kohli regularly discuss their batting and suggest ways to improve their performances. He said they openly point out areas where the other player can make adjustments. Rohit also praised Kohli’s approach and said the former captain continues to focus on preparation, scoring runs and winning matches for India. However, the two now meet less often because they spend more time at home. Rohit added that their homes are also located far apart.

Both Batters Continue To Help Each Other
Kohli recently produced a remarkable innings in India’s opening ODI against the West Indies. While chasing a target of 296 runs, he remained unbeaten on 139 from just 88 deliveries. His innings included 10 fours and nine sixes, helping India complete the chase comfortably. Kohli also crossed the 15,000-run mark in ODI cricket during the match. The knock further added to his international century tally and gave India a 1-0 lead in the series.
India will now face the West Indies in the second ODI at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on September 30. Rohit’s comments have highlighted the strong cricketing understanding he shares with Kohli. Despite spending less time together away from cricket, both players continue to support each other’s development. Their long international careers have allowed them to understand the demands of top-level cricket. The pair will now look to contribute to India’s campaign in the remaining matches of the series.
