Hundreds of government job aspirants marched towards Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary’s residence in Patna on Tuesday. The protesters broke through police barricades and clashed with security personnel during the demonstration. Police had placed barricades along the route to prevent the protesters from reaching the Chief Minister’s residence. However, the students removed the barriers and continued their march from Gandhi Maidan. The protesters raised slogans while demanding action from the state government over examination and recruitment issues. The demonstration involved students and jobseekers who have been protesting against alleged irregularities in competitive examinations.

Patna Protesters Break Barricades During March
The protesters demanded the cancellation of the 70th Bihar Public Service Commission examination. They raised concerns about alleged paper leaks, examination irregularities and problems linked to the recruitment process. Students also demanded a transparent examination system and called for a single examination process. The agitation has continued in Patna’s Gardanibagh area over various demands related to government recruitment. Protesters said they wanted the government to provide clear and concrete assurances instead of holding repeated discussions with junior officials. They insisted that senior government leaders should directly address their concerns and explain the steps authorities would take.
The situation turned tense when protesters breached several barricades while moving towards the Chief Minister’s residence. Police personnel tried to stop the advancing crowd and control the situation. Authorities used lathicharge at multiple points and deployed water cannons to disperse the protesters. Despite the police action, several students continued their march and moved closer to the Chief Minister’s residence. The demonstration began around 10 am at Gandhi Maidan, where students gathered before starting their planned march. Security forces remained deployed along the route as authorities attempted to prevent further escalation.

Students Demand Action on 70th BPSC Exam
The protest followed talks between student representatives and the Bihar government a day earlier. Student leader Saurav Kumar described the discussions as positive but said the protesters would continue their agitation until authorities addressed their demands. He said students wanted to meet Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary directly because previous meetings with junior officials had not produced a final decision. The protesters also offered to meet the Education Minister as an alternative. They said they would consider ending the agitation if the government arranged a meeting with senior leadership and issued an official notice addressing their demands.
Amid the ongoing protests, the Bihar government announced the launch of the monthly Vidyarthi Sahyog Shivir to address student grievances. Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said educational institutions would host the camps on the fourth Tuesday of every month. Students will be able to present their concerns directly to officials and seek solutions through the new initiative. The government will also provide an online portal and helpline number 1100 for registering and tracking complaints. The initiative comes as students continue their agitation over examination-related issues. However, protesters remain focused on their demand for action regarding the 70th BPSC examination and broader recruitment concerns.
