The video of Uttarakhand’s electric flying vehicle has recently gone viral across social media platforms. Users are sharing footage showing the unusual prototype completing a test flight over open ground.
Ravi Tamta, from Kaflikhan village in Almora, developed the prototype through his startup, Hapida Sky. He named the single-seater flying machine HAPIDA SKYNeX and based its design around drone technology. Tamta conducted the test flight in Almora while his team observed and evaluated prototype performance. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also shared the flying vehicle’s video on X online. The video attracted widespread attention as viewers discussed personal electric flight possibilities in mountainous regions.

Mountain Connectivity and Flying Vehicle Development
Tamta says difficult mountain transportation inspired him to explore a faster alternative for local travel. According to local reports, journeys between his village and home can take nearly ninety minutes. Tamta believes a personal flying vehicle could cover similar distances within ten to fifteen minutes. He says his team spent years experimenting with drone technology before developing the person-carrying prototype. The team reportedly modified drone concepts to create a machine capable of lifting one passenger.
Tamta has rejected claims that the flying vehicle came from China, calling such allegations incorrect. He invited reporters to visit his manufacturing unit to inspect his project and understand development. The HAPIDA SKYNeX uses a fully electric powertrain, according to descriptions shared about the prototype. However, developers have not publicly released detailed specifications about the vehicle’s battery or flight performance. Information about battery capacity, flight duration, maximum speed, payload, and charging time remains unavailable currently. The prototype reportedly uses a compact multirotor arrangement inspired by conventional modern drone technology designs. Its single-seat configuration allows the team to concentrate on lift, balance, stability, and controlled flight. Future development could focus on improving capabilities, safety systems, reliability, and practical mountain transportation solutions.
