India Covid-19 Update: 6,822 new cases in last 24 hrs, WHO experts to discuss safety

India logged 6,822 new Covid-19 infections, the lowest in 558 days, taking the country’s total tally of Covid cases to 3,46,48,383, the Union Health Ministry informed on Tuesday.

Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Corporation chief Vijay Suryavanshi on Monday informed that out of 295 recent foreign returnees in Thane district, 100 were untraceable.

He said the mobile phones of some of these people were switched off while many of the last given addresses were found to be locked, news agency PTI reported. Keeping in view the rise in Omicron cases in India, this is a worrying situation for the state government as well as the state. Two more cases of the new Omicron variant were to reported from Maharashtra on December 6, taking India’s total tally to 23. Both of these individuals were fully vaccinated and had returned from abroad last month.

The situation in Maharashtra is being closely to monitored by the state government. State Health Minister Rajesh Tope had earlier said that any decision on reimposing restrictions in Maharashtra. After seeking the Centre’s guidance and Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s views.

With 10,004 recoveries in the last 24 hours, the cumulative recovery tally in India now stands at 3,40,79,612. The Recovery rate is currently at 98.36 per cent.

The daily positivity rate (0. 63 per cent) is less than 2 per cent for the last 64 days while the weekly positivity rate (0. 28 per cent) is less than 1 per cent for the last 23 days.

Covid-19 Vaccine Registration, Coronavirus Omicron Variant Cases in India 

India reported 6,822 new cases of Coronavirus and 220 deaths in last 24 hours. The country’s active caseload currently stands at 95,014 which is the lowest in 554 days.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW). The active cases in the country account for less than 1 per cent of total cases, currently at 0. 27 per cent which is the lowest since March last year.
