OpenAI has officially introduced GPT-5.5 Instant as the new default model for ChatGPT. The latest AI upgrade replaces GPT-5.3 Instant and focuses on improving reasoning, coding, and response accuracy. OpenAI says GPT-5.5 Instant can deliver smarter answers while maintaining fast performance for daily users.
GPT-5.5 Instant also reduces hallucination issues in sensitive sectors like finance, law, and healthcare. The company revealed that the new model performs better in mathematical and logical reasoning benchmarks. OpenAI stated that the AI scored 81.2 on the AIME 2025 benchmark, showing a major improvement over the previous version.

GPT-5.5 Instant improves reasoning, reduces hallucinations, and adds smarter personalised memory features for ChatGPT users worldwide.
The new GPT-5.5 Instant model also improves multimodal reasoning capabilities. OpenAI confirmed that the AI can now understand complex multimedia prompts more efficiently. The model scored 76 points on the MMMU-Pro benchmark, highlighting stronger performance in advanced reasoning tasks and visual understanding.
Another major update in GPT-5.5 Instant is its smarter contextual memory system. This feature helps users receive more relevant answers without repeatedly sharing the same information.
OpenAI has started rolling out GPT-5.5 Instant for Plus and Pro users through the web version of ChatGPT. Mobile support is expected soon, while Free, Go, Business, and Enterprise users will receive access in the coming weeks. OpenAI also added new transparency controls that allow users to view, edit, or delete stored memory references safely.
