A 17-year-old Class 12 student, Teen Prince Soni, died at a private school in Jaipur’s Jhotwara area after allegedly eating a spoiled patty from the canteen. The incident took place on Thursday and triggered protests by the student’s family and local residents. Prince’s relatives accused the school administration of negligence. They claimed the school failed to arrange immediate medical treatment for the teenager. Police have started investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
Family Alleges Delay In Taking Student To Hospital
According to the family, Prince had not brought his lunchbox to school that day. He went to the canteen with his friends and ate a patty. Soon after, he reportedly vomited and his health deteriorated. Prince returned to his classroom and told a teacher that he was feeling unwell. He later collapsed and lost consciousness, following which school staff moved him to another room.
The family alleged that the school did not take Prince to a hospital immediately. A relative, Ravi Kumar, claimed that teachers and school administrators moved the unconscious student to a separate room around 11 am. The family said school officials then contacted them and asked them to arrange a four-wheeler. Relatives alleged that the school could have taken Prince to a nearby hospital without waiting for the family. When they eventually took him to the hospital, doctors declared him dead.
Protesters Demand Action Against School Administration
After receiving information about the incident, Jhotwara police reached the school and recorded statements from students and teachers. The student’s death led to protests outside the school premises. Local shopkeepers from the Swarnkar community near Brijbal Chauraha also shut their shops in response to the incident. Hundreds of people reportedly gathered outside the school and demanded action. Prince’s family later brought his body to the school while seeking accountability from the administration.
Police officials said they are investigating the allegations and have collected statements related to the incident. The exact cause of Prince’s death has not yet been established. Authorities said the post-mortem examination will help determine the cause of death. The family has alleged that the school’s response contributed to the tragedy. Meanwhile, police are examining the circumstances leading up to the student’s death.
