Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his PM Modi Indonesia Visit with a grand ceremonial welcome in Jakarta on Tuesday. Indonesian Air Force fighter jets escorted his aircraft as it entered the country’s airspace. President Prabowo Subianto personally received the Prime Minister and welcomed him with a traditional cultural performance.
During the visit, Indonesia conferred its highest civilian honour, the ‘Bintang Adipurna of the Republic of Indonesia’, on Prime Minister Modi. The award recognizes his contribution to strengthening India-Indonesia relations and expanding cooperation across several strategic sectors.

The PM Modi Indonesia Visit marks the first bilateral visit since both countries upgraded ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2018. The two leaders are expected to discuss defence, maritime security, trade, investment, digital cooperation, and regional stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
India and Indonesia have strengthened defence ties in recent years. Both countries regularly conduct joint military exercises and expand defence cooperation. Indonesia’s acquisition of BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles has further enhanced strategic collaboration between the two nations.
The PM Modi Indonesia Visit is the first leg of his three-nation diplomatic tour. The visit aims to deepen bilateral relations and promote stronger economic and security partnerships. Both nations expect the talks to create new opportunities for long-term cooperation
