    PM Narendra Modi said the ongoing West Asia conflict has significantly disrupted global markets, particularly affecting energy supplies and trade routes. Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, he warned that shortages of fuel, gas, and fertilizers could impact India as well, though the government is closely monitoring the situation and taking necessary steps to reduce its effects.

    He emphasized that while the crisis is serious and may have long-term consequences, India’s economic fundamentals remain strong. According to him, the government is approaching the situation with caution, patience, and strategic decision-making to handle the evolving challenges effectively.

    The Prime Minister also urged state governments to act firmly against hoarding and black marketing of essential goods. Drawing parallels with the coordinated response during COVID-19 pandemic, he called for a unified “Team India” approach to ensure smooth supply chains and protect vulnerable sections like the poor and migrant workers.

    Highlighting maritime concerns, Modi pointed to disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, where several global ships, including those with Indian crew members, remain stranded. He stated that India is actively engaging through diplomatic channels with countries such as Iran, Israel, and the United States to promote de-escalation and ensure safe passage.

    He further stressed that the safety of Indians abroad, especially the large population living in Gulf nations, is a top priority. The government has already facilitated the return of lakhs of citizens and continues to secure energy supplies from multiple sources while expanding strategic oil reserves to strengthen long-term resilience.
