During a national address, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer clearly said Britain will stay out of the Iran conflict despite external pressure. He made this statement in response to US President Donald Trump, who has criticised NATO allies for not supporting Washington in the West Asia crisis. Starmer stressed that he will take decisions based on Britain’s national interest.

He also announced that the UK will take a diplomatic lead by hosting an international summit to address the Strait of Hormuz crisis. Iran has blocked this key shipping route, which plays a major role in global energy supply. Around 35 countries have agreed to work together to restore maritime security in the region.

Starmer repeated his stance and said he will not let political pressure or outside “noise” influence his decisions. He said his priority is to protect the UK’s interests, even as tensions rise and criticism grows. His remarks showed a cautious and independent approach.

This development follows Trump’s warning that the United States may leave NATO due to a lack of support from member countries. Italy and Spain have already refused to allow US forces to use their bases for operations linked to the conflict, which has increased tensions within the alliance.

Despite these differences, Starmer said the UK is not choosing between the US and Europe. He reaffirmed Britain’s commitment to NATO and called for stronger ties with European partners in defence, energy, and the economy.
