In March, Namita Thapar, a judge on Shark Tank India and Executive Director at Emcure Pharmaceuticals, shared a video highlighting the health benefits of namaz, which triggered online backlash.
Responding to the criticism, she said she has faced continuous abuse for the past three weeks, with trolls targeting both her and her mother. On Monday, she addressed the issue on X and defended her stance.
As a healthcare professional, Namita said she has also created content on Hindu practices and their health benefits. This includes regular posts on yoga and Surya Namaskar, which did not attract similar reactions.
Namita Thapar Hits Back at Trolls Over Namaz Health Benefits Video
On Monday, Namita Thapar shared a video on X addressing the backlash over her Namaz post and criticised the abuse directed at her and her mother.
She said she was taught that religion stands for respect and questioned why women continue to face such behaviour. Pointing to the silence around such incidents, she urged people to speak up instead of staying quiet. She added that she has learnt to stand up for herself. Calling herself a proud Hindu, she reminded trolls about karma and asked them to be mindful of their actions.
Amid the viral trend, many of her negative videos have gained traction, she noted. She urged users to amplify messages that promote respect. In her caption, the entrepreneur mentioned recording the video early in the morning while travelling to Mumbai. She stressed that silence is not a virtue and called on people to raise their voices against disrespect and violations of basic human rights.
Reflecting on her journey, she said she has faced trolling since appearing on Shark Tank India. Her intention, she added, was to encourage Indians to speak out against wrongdoing in the spirit of humanity and patriotism. She concluded her message with “Jai Hind.”
Namita Thapar Draws Backlash for Namaz Health Benefits Post
Namita Thapar highlighted the health benefits of namaz. She described it as a full-body exercise that improves flexibility and supports joint and knee health. It also boosts blood circulation, she noted.
She further explained that its repetitive, meditative nature supports mental well-being. According to her, the Vajrasana posture aids digestion and provides relief from daily stress. Despite this, a section of social media users criticised her for discussing the health benefits of namaz.
