A fire broke out at a fireworks warehouse in Maharashtra’s Hingoli district on Monday night, killing two people and injuring seven others, according to preliminary reports.
The blaze started around 8 p.m. in Marwadi Galli, a densely populated area of Hingoli city, where the warehouse reportedly belonged to Gopal Bastwar. The flames spread rapidly and triggered repeated explosions as fireworks stored inside the warehouse caught fire. The powerful blasts frightened nearby residents and damaged several houses and two-wheelers parked along the narrow lane. Rescue teams recovered two bodies from the site after firefighters brought parts of the massive blaze under control. Officials could not immediately identify the victims because the intense fire severely burned both bodies.

Firefighters Face Challenges as Blaze Spreads Through Congested Area
Seven people also suffered burn injuries during the incident and received medical treatment after the emergency. Two firefighters reportedly sustained injuries when the fire brigade vehicle deployed at the scene caught fire. The flames also destroyed the fire brigade vehicle while firefighters continued battling the dangerous warehouse blaze. A fire brigade official said the incident occurred in an old and heavily congested part of Hingoli. The narrow lanes made it difficult for fire engines and rescue teams to reach the warehouse quickly. Firefighters also faced challenges because the stored fireworks continued exploding during their efforts to control the flames. A large crowd gathered near the scene, further obstructing rescue operations and slowing emergency response efforts. Police and emergency teams worked to secure the area and prevent residents from approaching dangerous locations.
Authorities continued firefighting and rescue operations while assessing damage to nearby houses and vehicles. The incident caused widespread panic as residents rushed outside after hearing the sudden explosions. Officials said they would investigate the circumstances surrounding the fire after completing firefighting operations at the site. Authorities will determine the exact cause after examining the warehouse, damaged equipment, and available evidence. They are also expected to check whether the warehouse followed required safety regulations for storing fireworks. The incident highlights the serious risks associated with fireworks storage inside densely populated residential areas. Further details about the victims, injured people, property damage, and investigation are expected from authorities.
