    Lenskart founder Peyush Bansal dismissed allegations that the company’s style guide allows a hijab but restricts a bindi, tilak, or kalawa. The “Lenskart Staff Uniform and Grooming Guide” circulated online and triggered a controversy over alleged religious discrimination. Bansal issued a clarification.

    X users criticised Lenskart and Bansal. They accused them of “lying” and said the document dates to February 2026.

    Several users questioned his clarification and urged the company to release its current policy. One user asked Lenskart to make its latest guidelines public. The user said the document contradicts the company’s claims.

    Another user challenged the explanation. The user insisted the document is recent and questioned who the company is trying to mislead. Author Shefali Vaidya also questioned the response. She asked Lenskart to explain why it called the document “inaccurate.” She also urged the company to share updated guidelines and raised concerns over alleged religious bias.

    Lenskart Style Guide Details Surface Amid Row

    A purported Lenskart style guide said store employees can wear a black hijab and black turbans during shifts. However, it barred employees from wearing bindis and tilak, stating that “religious tikka/tilak and bindi/sticker is not allowed.”

    The document drew widespread criticism online over alleged religious bias. In response, Peyush Bansal distanced the company from the document, called it an outdated version that does not reflect current policy, and apologised for the confusion it caused.

    Lenskart Row:Peyush Bansal Responds

    Peyush Bansal said in a post on X that an inaccurate Lenskart policy document went viral. He clarified that the document is outdated and does not reflect the company’s current guidelines.

    Bansal said employees have full freedom to wear bindis or tilaks and emphasised that the company does not restrict any form of religious expression. He added that Lenskart regularly updates its policies and said older versions do not represent the company today.

    He also apologised for the confusion and concern the circulating document caused.
