Heavy rain caused major disruption on the Pune-Mumbai highways on Monday. A landslide damaged the retaining wall on the Expressway Missing Link. Authorities also closed the old Pune-Mumbai Highway after a tree damaged power lines. As a result, traffic stopped in both directions. Officials urged people to avoid travel until conditions become safe.
Meanwhile, Central Railway suspended several services after another landslide between Thakurwadi and Monkey Hill. A total of 16 trains were cancelled. In addition, many trains were diverted, short-terminated, or short-originated. Railway officials continue to monitor the situation. They will restore services only after safety checks are complete.

Heavy rain also triggered emergency rescue operations in Pune district. A landslide hit Patan village near Lohagad Fort in Maval taluka. Authorities fear that three family members remain trapped under debris. Therefore, the National Disaster Response Force deployed a 30-member team to carry out rescue work.
In Pune city, officials evacuated residents from a three-storey building in Sadashiv Peth. The land beside the building collapsed because of continuous rainfall. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. However, the Pune Municipal Corporation will inspect the structure before allowing residents to return.
Officials advised travellers to postpone trips on the Pune-Mumbai highways until further notice. Weather conditions remain unstable across the region. Therefore, authorities will issue fresh updates after inspecting roads and railway tracks. People should follow official advisories and avoid unnecessary travel for their safety.
