Due to the Mumbai Red Alert, authorities declared a holiday for all government, private, and civic-run schools and colleges in Mumbai, Pune, Thane, and Palghar. The decision aims to ensure the safety of students and staff during severe weather conditions.
Heavy rainfall also led to a tragic incident in Mumbai’s Mankhurd area, where a three-storey chawl collapsed. Officials confirmed that six people lost their lives and one person suffered injuries. Rescue teams continue to monitor the affected area.
The Mumbai Red Alert is expected to remain in focus as the IMD forecasts additional rainfall. Residents should follow official weather advisories, stay away from flooded areas, and remain prepared for possible travel disruptions.
