The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Noida and Ghaziabad, forecasting rain and thunderstorms on Thursday evening. This alert indicates moderate thunderstorm activity, with gusty winds and brief spells of rain expected. At the same time, Delhi remains under a yellow alert, where authorities expect light rain and thunderstorms at isolated locations with less severe impact.
In contrast, the IMD has placed outer regions of the National Capital Region (NCR), including Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, under a red alert. The department warns of moderate to severe thunderstorms in these areas, which may bring intense rainfall, strong winds, lightning, and possible disruptions to daily life. Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and take necessary safety precautions.

Weather conditions across the NCR are likely to remain unstable throughout the day, with increasing cloud cover and intensifying thunderstorm activity by evening. Sudden weather changes, including strong winds and localized heavy showers, could disrupt traffic movement and outdoor activities. Authorities have urged residents to stay updated with official advisories and avoid unnecessary travel during peak storm hours.
Earlier in the day, Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 25.4°C at Safdarjung, indicating warm and humid conditions ahead of the expected rainfall. Other stations reported similar readings, with Palam at 24.9°C, Lodhi Road at 23.6°C, Ridge at 25°C, and Ayanagar at 24.1°C. The India Meteorological Department continues to monitor the evolving weather system and will provide updates as conditions develop further.
