The Delhi-NCR Public Works Department (PWD) has planned a new elevated corridor in Shahdara to tackle traffic congestion.
The proposed route will connect Kanti Nagar Bridge with Tata Telco T-Point.
Officials expect the project to reduce travel time and improve connectivity for daily commuters.
The corridor will run along Trunk Drain Number 1 near Swami Dayanand Marg.
The move could provide significant relief to commuters travelling through the busy Shahdara area.

Elevated Road Project Moves Ahead
The PWD has approved the appointment of a consultant to examine the proposed elevated road.
The department has allocated Rs 2.63 crore for conducting the feasibility and technical studies.
Local residents and public representatives had repeatedly raised concerns about traffic congestion in the area.
The consultant will conduct detailed traffic surveys and identify major bottlenecks along the proposed route.
The team will also suggest suitable measures to address the identified traffic-related challenges.
The appointed consultant will study different options for developing the elevated corridor.
It will prepare alternative designs and assess the estimated cost of each proposal.
The consultant will then compile the findings into a Detailed Project Report (DPR).
The state government has approved the consultancy services to determine the project’s technical feasibility.
Authorities will select the consultant through a transparent and competitive bidding process.

Project Aims to Improve Shahdara Connectivity
Officials have instructed the consultant to complete the assigned work within the approved budget and timeline.
The consultant cannot exceed the sanctioned amount without prior approval from the competent authority.
Once completed, the study will help authorities determine the most suitable design for the elevated corridor.
The project could improve traffic movement and reduce delays for commuters in Shahdara and nearby areas.
It may also strengthen connectivity between important parts of Delhi and the wider NCR region.
Residents of Shahdara and neighbouring areas often face severe traffic problems during the monsoon season.
Waterlogging further disrupts movement and increases travel difficulties across several local stretches.
The proposed elevated corridor could offer an alternative route and help ease pressure on existing roads.
The development comes after Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced several connectivity projects last month.
Authorities are now moving forward with studies before taking the project to the next stage.
