Delhi-NCR witnessed major traffic disruptions on Tuesday as two separate protests affected movement across the region. A youth-led CJP demonstration at Jantar Mantar and a farmers’ march toward Delhi created heavy congestion on several key roads. Authorities installed multiple barricades and tightened security to maintain law and order. The restrictions caused long traffic queues and significant delays for commuters throughout the day.
CJP Protest Continues Under Tight Security
The CJP resumed its protest at Jantar Mantar a day after clashes erupted during a march toward Parliament. On Monday, confrontations between protesters and police resulted in injuries to several people and damage to public property. Although tensions eased on Tuesday, police kept barricades in place to prevent any fresh incidents. Traffic in central Delhi continued to move slowly because of the ongoing security arrangements.
At the same time, farmers assembled near the Shambhu Border before heading toward Delhi for a proposed Mahapanchayat. The protest aimed to oppose the proposed India-US trade agreement and drew a large number of participants. Security forces increased deployment along the Punjab-Haryana border and other entry points into the capital. The movement of vehicles slowed considerably on major highways connecting Delhi with neighboring cities.

Major Routes Witness Heavy Congestion
Traffic remained affected at several important locations, including the Delhi-Ghaziabad Border, UP Gate, Delhi-Meerut Expressway, and NH-9. Commuters experienced long delays as police diverted vehicles from sensitive areas. Additional security checks and road barricades further reduced traffic speed. Officials continued to monitor the situation while ensuring that emergency services could move without interruption.
Delhi Police issued a traffic advisory asking people to avoid routes near Satyagrah Marg, Velodrome Road, Rajghat DTC Depot Road, and nearby areas. Authorities also urged passengers travelling to the airport and railway stations to leave early and choose alternate routes whenever possible. Traffic personnel remained deployed at key intersections to manage vehicle flow. Police said they would review restrictions based on the law and order situation later in the day.
